3 Ways to Celebrate the End of the School Year on Zoom

Are you looking for a fun way to celebrate the end of the school year on Zoom? Whether you are teaching on Zoom, in-person, or hybrid, chances are you were leading a virtual classroom at some point this year.

This means….you and your students deserve a celebration!

We have all been through an extremely tough year, and some of the hardest to feel the struggle have been teachers and their students.

But we have made it through, and we need to go out in style! Check out these three fun ways to end the school year with a bang!

Fun Categories for Student Awards

This year has been far from normal, so why give your students normal awards! Check out these fun, creative distance learning-themed student awards.

Categories for student awards range from “Most likely to have a parent or sibling in the background” to “Most likely to ask to be unmuted”.

Students can cast their votes on a Google Form provided to the teacher, that he or she can send to the students. Google forms allow for teachers to easily see the winner for each award, as it tallies the results to see the most popular answer.

Teachers need to simply enter the students’ names on this virtual certificate, created on Google Slides.

Share the results with your students in a presentation style, and send students their awards by simply sharing the Google Slide with their certificate.

Students love these fun, quirky class awards. Click here to see the awards!

End of the School Year Party- “Wrap Party”

Of course, a party on Zoom will look different than a party that would have taken place in the classroom, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be just as special.

Get out the balloons, streamers, confetti, and noisemakers!

Give your students the task of decorating their space as best they can. And of course, you must do the same!

You could even have students vote on a theme in which they need to decorate their rooms.

If students don’t have access to decorations, they can choose or design their own virtual backgrounds for the occasion.

The goal is to make this event as celebratory and fun for students as possible!

You could choose the Wrap party as the perfect time to announce the winners of the Zoom awards!

Instagram Captions Scavenger Hunt

One fun activity to include for your Wrap Party is an Instagram Captions Scavenger Hunt.

This will require some prep, but the results are worth it!

Have your students send you 1-2 photos of themselves beforehand. Preferably, these photos would be from this school year. Students can scan physical photographs or send you digital images.

Then, compile these photos and place them on the Google Slideshow.

On the day you play with students, show them each image and have them caption them by writing on a whiteboard or commenting in the chat. Students can share their results with their classmates. You can choose to have students vote for their favorite.

Final Words for celebrating the end of the school year…

While this has not been a normal school year, we have all become masters at making the most of an odd, far from ideal situation.

Celebrating what we have accomplished this year is very important for our students and ourselves!
